- About Troop 99
Christ-Centered, Boy-led Scouting
Troop 99 was founded in 1994 with the aim of using the Scouting program as an outreach for the development of godly young men in the community. A few years later, Pack 99 formed with the same ideals in the more family-centric environment of Cub Scouting. Since that time, this overtly Christian approach to Scouting has impacted the lives of hundreds of young men.
Part of what sets Scouting at Troop 99 apart is our commitment to training youth leaders by actually letting them lead while being mentored by godly adult leaders. Though this is how the BSA program is designed, it is often not implemented to this extent.
This combination of distinctives has given our units a reputation as one of the strongest programs in the Council and has produced over 70 Eagle Scouts at a rate about 5 times the national average!
- Meetings
Troop 99 has troop and patrol meetings at Grace Church (12900 Cantrell Rd) every Monday night from 7:15pm until 8:45pm. During these meetings, we earn merit badges, learn and develop important skills such as communication and leadership, prepare for an upcoming camp-out, or we just have fun!
- Camping and Activities
Camping in the great outdoors is one of the best opportunities for a scout to mature, learn about and appreciate the world around us. We typically have an activity once per month where we enjoy events such as camping, hiking, canoing, exploring caves, traveling to scenic or historical areas of the state and country, or just learning new things. The scouts in our troop consistently say the campouts are the number 1 thing they love about scouting.
